Jab
The first punch you learn when you first visit a boxing gym. Quickest punch to throw, arguable your weakest punch but scores points regardless.
Alternatively, this punch can be used to shoot straight down the middle around your opponent's solar plexus.

In boxing, as in life, it's crucial to stay on the offensive. By moving forward and throwing punches in bunches, you keep your opponent off balance and on the defensive. In addition, you're more likely to score a knockout if you're the one dictating the pace of the fight.
Hook
The hook is performed by turning the core muscles and back, thereby swinging the arm, which is bent at an angle near or at 90 degrees, in a horizontal arc into the opponent. A hook is usually aimed at the jaw, but it can also be used for body shots, especially to the liver or the stomach.
These shots are very malicious and have put many individuals and rightfully so.
Cross/Straight
The cross or otherwise known as the straight is a punch thrown using the rear (dominant) hand instead of the lead hand, and is done by throwing the fist from the guard position next to the face. Its name is derived from the movement of crossing the body and hitting the opponent in the face.
This punch is what hurts a lot of people as it travels a long way to reach its target something like a Voyage, but when it lands it increases your chances of striking gold.
Uppercut
Have you ever fell victim to the nose flick prank? Boxers try to perform a similar trick but instead of using a finger they use their gloves and its not a joke.
The uppercut (formerly known as the undercut; sometimes also referred to as the upper) is a punch used in boxing that starts low and travels upwards vertically aiming at the opponent's chin. Alternatively it can be thrown to the abdomen but they realistically its aiming to
crack your chin.
